Eligibility, Entrance Test & Application Process
Entrance Exam: XAT
- To apply for most PGDM / residential programs, candidates must appear for XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test), which is conducted by XLRI.
- For certain programs (e.g. PGDM GM), other valid scores like GMAT may also be accepted
Eligibility Criteria
- Must hold a three-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised university in any discipline.
- For executive/general management programs, typically, work experience is required.
- For online programs, often additional criteria such as minimum work experience, and sometimes minimum marks in graduation.
Selection Process
- Take XAT exam (or valid GMAT / others if accepted).
- Based on scores + category-wise cut-offs for sections & total, shortlisted for Personal Interview (PI) and/or Group Discussion (GD) rounds.
- Final merit list published after GD/PI and other credentials (academic record, experience, extracurriculars, etc.) considered
How to Apply
Here’s a step-by-step view of applying to XLRI:
- Check eligibility for the specific program you want (e.g., PGDM BM / HRM / GM / IE.V, etc.).
- Register for XAT when the form opens (for 2026, from ~10 July 2025 till 5 December 2025).
- Fill out XAT form with personal details, academic qualifications, work experience (if any), and program choices. Upload required documents.
- Pay registration fee. (XAT fee ~ Rs. 2,200) Take the exam on exam date; later download the result.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for GD / PI, possibly with an assessment of other criteria.
- Admission offer based on overall performance, interview, test score, experience, etc.
