On, The Society for the Rights of Backward Communities organized a mammoth fasting agitation at Sivananda Colony, Coimbatore. Leaders of 17 major Backward Communities and about three thousand people participated in the fasting. Though it was the first field venture, it was massive and impressive. Representatives of all Communities addressed the gathering. The demands of the organizations are caste Census, proportionate reservation, filling of backward vacancies, etc.,
