Creating - Registering And Launching SFRBC:
Achievements
A fair assessment and analysis of the sequence of events that were taking place since 1985 would clearly reveal the gross injustice done to the Backward Class Communities in Tamil Nadu. Though the Second Backward Class Commission (Amba Sankar Commission) report was not recognized and termed as a minority report by the ruling dispensation in 1985 and 50% reservation was ordered to be continued, the ruling dispensation which came to power in 1989 deliberately violated the rules as also the rationality and issued a government order (G.O MS No:- 242 Dated 28.03.1989) splitting the Backward Class reservation in to 30% and 20%. 30% reservation to Backward Class Communities and 20% reservation to the newly formed Most Backward Class. Further the reservation to backward lass Communities was reduced to 26.5% by giving a sub-quota of 3.5% to Muslims. The aforesaid reduction of reservation to Backward Class Communities deprived them the real benefits / fruits of reservation. Unfortunately no Community Leader or any MLA or MP – expressed any concern against this injustice. Since 1989, one Community alone was enjoying the major benefits of 20% reservation. After the demise of the political icon Selvi. Jayalalitha and Dr.Kalaignar in Tamil Nadu, the said Community took advantage of their strength and political vacuum and again demanded for 25% special reservation. So, the Community which was much benefited by 20% reservation (on a false – manipulated data) again poised to get a considerable special quota. As none of the political parties nor Community Leaders opposed it or made any efforts to bring out the plea of the rest of the Backward Class Communities, a few of our friends who are Lawyers and Doctors along with some Academicians came forward to take up this matter and fight for it. It was their decision and determination that led to the formation and launch of the “Society for the Rights of Backward Communities – SFRBC”. As politics played a vital role in inflicting all injustice to the Backward Class Communities, we took a vow to keep politics away from this organisation (SFRBC).
