Mega Scholarship Drive
On 7 September 2025, Annamalaikottai village near Sivagiri became a centre of hope where education and community action came together. During the 3rd Kanavu Cross Country Run, a mega scholarship and educational loan program was conducted by the Society for the Rights of Backward Communities (OBC Rights), making education the core purpose of the event.
Many students, parents, and research scholars visited the OBC Rights help desks to check scholarship eligibility, verify availability, and understand suitable educational loan options. After proper guidance and document verification, applications were submitted on the spot for eligible students, turning awareness into real action.
Organized jointly with Kanavu Startup Village, the event brought together over 20,000 people, creating a powerful atmosphere of unity and purpose. More than 5,800 runners, ranging from 3 years to above 80 years, participated in 1.5 km, 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km race categories. The marathon route passed through lush green rural landscapes, symbolizing the strength and spirit of village participation.
With the dedicated efforts of volunteers, both the cross-country run and the scholarship program were smoothly coordinated. The initiative empowered families with direct access to educational opportunities, reinforcing education as a tool for social justice and equality. The event clearly proved that meaningful and lasting change can begin from villages.
