The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) stands as one of the country’s top institutions for media and communication education. Founded in 1965 under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, it was officially accorded the status of a deemed-to-be university in January 2024. Today, IIMC functions as a hub of academic excellence, offering advanced training and research opportunities in journalism, advertising, public relations, and digital media.

IIMC was initially set up to train Central Information Service officers, but later it spread its tentacles by offering professional courses in journalism and mass communication. With its headquarters in New Delhi and regional campuses in Dhenkanal (Odisha), Aizawl (Mizoram), Amravati (Maharashtra), Jammu, and Kottayam (Kerala), IIMC serves students across India.

Admission Process
  • Entrance Exam: The admission process is carried out through a computer-based examination organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
  • Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Final-year students can also apply.
  • Selection: Based on Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by group discussion/interview (for some courses).
