National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery(NEET MDS)

NEET MDS, conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), is the entrance test for Masters of Dental Surgery in India. It provides admissions to all postgraduate dental courses offered by institutions in the country.

Eligibility for NEET MDS

Eligibility for NEET MDS 2024 requires candidates to be Indian citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), or Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs).

  • Students must possess a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree awarded by an Indian university or institute under MDS course regulations 2017, as issued by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
  • Candidates must possess a provisional or permanent registration certificate issued by DCI or State Dental Council (SDC).
  • Dental graduates must complete or expect to complete the 12-month rotatory internship on or before March 31, 2024, to qualify for eligibility.
  • Aspirants undergoing the rotatory internship, expected to finish before March 31, 2024, will qualify for exams but cannot enroll in MDS courses until they present the internship certificate during counseling.
NEET MDS eligibility criteria for Jammu and Kashmir aspirants:

– Candidates with undergraduate dental degrees from Jammu and Kashmir are not eligible for the 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats.

– Individuals nominated by the Government of India (GoI) under the central pool quota seats are qualified for AIQ seats.

– Qualified candidates must submit a signed affidavit affirming their GoI nomination.

– The affidavit, along with the printout of the NEET MDS application form 2024, should be sent to the provided address.

NEET MDS eligibility criteria for Foreign National

– Foreign nationals taking NEET MDS in 2024 are not obligated to possess temporary registration from the Dental Council of India (DCI) during the examination.

– These candidates can participate in the exam even without holding a DCI registration certificate.

– If successful in the exam, a temporary registration certificate from DCI will be issued to foreign nationals, provided they are registered as medical practitioners in their respective countries.

Documents need to Apply for NEET (MDS)

– Candidates must upload scanned copies of their passport-size photograph, signature, and left-hand thumb impression.

– The submission should follow the specified guidelines mentioned in the application.

Procedure to apply NEET(MDS)

1. Choose ‘NEET MDS‘ in the program dropdown, and click ‘Save & Continue.’,

2. Review exam details, and click ‘Continue.’,

3. Enter personal details on the ‘Apply for NEET MDS’ page, and click ‘Save & Continue.’,

4. Provide BDS, Internship, and additional details, click ‘Submit.’,

5. Upload PDFs of Photo ID and DCI/SDC Certificate (<500kB each), and click ‘Upload.’,

6. Agree to the declaration, and click the ‘Save & Continue.’ instructions.
