An Ayushman card is a card that gives access to free medical treatment for eligible families under the “Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PM-JAY)”. PM-JAY is a government-funded health insurance scheme that provides cashless healthcare benefits to economically disadvantaged families.

What does Ayushman Bharat Yojana mean?

  • Ayushman Bharat Yojana is also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
  • This is a national public health insurance scheme of the Government of India.
  • It was launched in September 2018.
  • It is the world’s largest government-funded healthcare program.
What does the Ayushman card provide?
  • It provides free medical treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh per family per year.
  • It provides access to a range of healthcare services, including diagnostic tests, doctor consultations, and treatment for a variety of diseases.
  • It also covers secondary and tertiary hospitalisation expenses.

Who is eligible for the Ayushman card?

  • The bottom 50% of our people who qualifies for this scheme.
  • All above 70 years aged senior citizens, regardless of their economic status.
  • Individuals from the SC/ST category.
  • Households lacking a member aged above 16 earning income exceeding Rs.2.5lakhs

You can apply for an Ayushman Card through the NHA’s Setu portal at https://setu.pmjay.gov.in. You can also apply for an Ayushman Vay Vandana Card through the Ayushman app.

What are the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana? PM-JAY provides cashless cover of up to INR 5,00,000 to each eligible family per annum for listed secondary and tertiary care conditions. The cover under the scheme includes all expenses incurred on the following components of the treatment

Documents required for Ayushman Card

  • Aadhaar Card for biometric verification
  • Family documents like Ration Card, PM Letter, or CM Letter
  • Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP ID) for family verification
  • DNO Recommendation letter and verification letter from Sarpanch/Municipal Councilor if you need to correct SECC personal/family details

Eligibility for Ayushman Card

  • People belonging to SC/ST category
  • Families with no earning member above 16 years of age
  • Having income less than Rs. 2.5 lakh
  • People listed in the PMJAY beneficiary list

Ayushman Vay Vandana Card

  • Senior citizens aged 70 and above can use their Aadhaar card to get an Ayushman Vay Vandana Card through the Ayushman app
  • This card gives access to ₹5 lakh worth of free treatment
