What is a pensioner photo card?
The Tamil Nadu Government Pensioner’s ID card is issued to retired government employees in the state of Tamil Nadu. This card
serves as proof of identity and is used for availing various benefits and services provided by the government
The Department in which the employee last worked issues the pensioners’ Identity Card. Therefore, in the case of an IAS
officer retiring while on Central deputation, the Identity Card may be issued by the concerned Ministry / Department.
Apply for a pensioner photo card online in Tamil Nadu:
you can visit the official Tamil Nadu government website “Kalanjiyam” (www.karuvoolam.tn.gov.in), navigate to the
“Pensioner Forms” section, download the application form, fill in the required details, upload necessary documents like your photo,
and apply online; you may need to visit a Common Service Center (CSC) for biometric verification depending on the process.

Steps to log in
- Go to tn-nhis.com
- Enter your NHIS, which is your username
- Enter your password, which is your date of birth in the format DDMMYYYY
- Regenerate and verify the OTP
- Log in
If you don’t remember your username, you can find it using your PPO or date of birth.
You can also check the status of your pension application by entering your application number. If you don’t know your
application number, you can enter your name, department, and retirement date.
