Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) was established in 1991 by the Government of Tamil Nadu to recruit individuals for the state’s uniformed services, which include the Police, Prison, and Fire and Rescue Services.
ROLES AND POST UNDER TNUSRB:
The role of the board is to recruit candidates for the following posts in the State’s uniformed service:
Sub Inspectors:
(i) Sub Inspector (AR, TALUK, and TSP) for both men and women.
(ii) Sub Inspector (Technical) for both men and women.
(iii) Sub Inspector (Fingerprint) for both men and women.
Police Constables:
(i) Grade II Police Constables for both men and women.
(ii) Grade II Firemen for men only.
(iii) Grade II Jail Warders for both men and women.
Organisation OF TNSURB:
The TNUSRB consists of the following key positions:
Chairman with the rank of Director General of Police (DGP)
Secretary holding the rank of Additional Director General of PoliceMember Secretary holding the rank of Inspector General of Police
In addition to these key positions, there are:
- An additional member who is a Superintendent of Police
- One Legal Adviser
- One Senior Administrative Officer
- A Deputy Superintendent of Police
- One Personal Assistant and
- team of 20 additional member
Selection process TNUSRB:
The selection process for TNUSRB PC involves three primary stages:
- The Written Examination
- The Physical Test and Endurance Test
- Certification verification
- Viva Voice(Personal interview)
- The Medical Examination.
WRITTEN EXAM:
- Open Quota Candidates: Open Quota candidates have two parts (Part A and Part B) with a total of 140 questions and a maximum of 70 marks. Part A has 80 questions worth 40 marks, and Part B has 60 questions worth 30 marks. The total duration for Open Quota candidates is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
- Departmental Quota Candidates: Departmental Quota candidates also have two parts (Part A and Part B) with a total of 170 questions and a maximum of 85 marks. Part A has 30 questions worth 15 marks, and Part B has 140 questions worth 70 marks. The total duration for Departmental Quota candidates is 3 hours

SCALE OF PAY of TNSURB:
Appointed SIs will receive a salary per the 7th CPC (Central Pay Commission) and are offered a monthly pay range from
Rs. 38,600 to Rs. 1,32,200.

Note: In Tamil Nadu, there are many training /coaching centres to give coaching to candidates appearing for selection through TNUSRB.
