The Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS-KSB) 2024-25, managed by the Kendriya Sainik Board Secretariat under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, offers scholarships to support the education of dependent children of ex-servicemen and ex-coast guard personnel, as well as their widows. This scheme specifically supports students accepted into the first year of an undergraduate (UG) program. Its primary objective is to encourage students to pursue higher technical and professional studies. Eligible students can receive up to ₹3,000 per month under this initiative.

Eligibility:-

To qualify for the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS), applicants must:

  • Be a dependent child or widow of ex-servicemen or ex-coast guard personnel.
  • Enroll in the first year of an undergraduate (UG) program (excluding lateral entry and integrated courses).
  • Have achieved a minimum of 60% marks in the Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ), which could be Class 12, a diploma, or a graduation degree.

Note: The MEQ criteria vary for different professional courses. To be eligible for the PM Scholarship Scheme, candidates must secure at least 60% in the MEQ, with marks calculated across all subjects, including optional ones, not just the highest scores.

Benefits:-

  • Each year, 5,500 scholarships are awarded to dependent wards and widows of ex-servicemen for higher education.
  • Male students receive a monthly scholarship amount of ₹2,500, while female students receive ₹3,000.
  • The scholarship amount is disbursed annually.
  • The scholarship is available for one to five years, based on the duration of the approved course by the relevant regulatory authorities.

Documents Needed:-

  • Aadhaar card of the student.
  • Matriculation certificate to verify date of birth.
  • Ex-servicemen/Ex-coast guard certificate, completed and signed by ZSB/Coast Guard HQ as per Annexure-1.
  • Bonafide certificate, properly filled and signed by authorized personnel (Vice Chancellor, Principal, Vice Principal, Dean, Associate Dean, Registrar, Deputy Registrar, Director, or Deputy Director of the Institute/College) as per Annexure-2.
  • Bank Certificate showing that the student’s Aadhaar card is linked to their bank account, as per Annexure 3.
  • Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) certificate, which may include the Class 12 mark sheet, graduation (all three years), or diploma, as applicable.
  • The first page of the bank passbook (preferably PNB/SBI) shows the student’s name, account number, and IFSC code.
  • PPO/ESM identity card for Category 6 and supporting documents for Categories 1 to 5:
    • Part II order for the Army, general form for the Navy, or POR for the Air Force.
    • Award certificate along with the gazette notification.
    • Scan and upload the original PPO or ESM identity card.

Ways to Apply Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme-

  • Click the ‘Apply Now’ button below.
  • Select the ‘Register’ button and complete the required registration details. (Note: If registered, log in with Gmail, Mobile number, or Email ID).
  • Go to the ‘Students’ option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and select it.
  • Click the ‘Login’ button under the OTR option to proceed with the scholarship application on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
  • Click on ‘New user? Register yourself on the left-hand side of the dashboard.
  • Carefully read the details, tick the checkbox, and click ‘Next.’
  • Enter a valid mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration.
  • Fill in the required fields and click ‘Save & Register’ to complete the One-time Registration (OTR) process. (Note: This is a temporary registration number; students must download the OTR mobile app for face authentication to finalize the OTR process).
  • After successful registration, go to ‘Apply for Scholarship’ and click the ‘Login’ button.
  • Select the scholarship, provide the necessary details, upload the required documents, and submit.
