Central Sector Scheme: The Department of Higher Education, under the Ministry of Education, offers a scholarship program aimed at supporting
academically outstanding students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds during their higher education journey.We grant
scholarships based on performance in the Higher Secondary or Class 12th Board Examination, with a maximum of 82,000 new scholarships
awarded annually. These scholarships cater to students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in colleges and universities
and professional courses like Medicine and Engineering. Achieving above the 80th percentile in the relevant Class 12th Board Examination
stream and enrolling in recognized colleges or institutions approved by AICTE and respective Regulatory Bodies determine eligibility.
Benefits of of scholarship:
– ₹12,000 per annum for undergraduate students during the first three years of college and university courses.
– ₹20,000 per annum for postgraduate students.
– For courses with a duration of five years or integrated programs, students receive ₹20,000 per annum in the fourth and fifth years.
– Technical course students, such as B.Tech or B.Engg., receive ₹12,000 per annum for the first three years and ₹20,000 in the fourth year.

Eligibility of Central Scheme of Scholarship:
– The applicant must rank above the 80th percentile among successful candidates in the relevant stream of the Class 12th Board Examination or its equivalent.
– Only regular degree courses are eligible; Distance learning, diploma courses, or correspondence are not under consideration..
– Courses must be pursued in colleges or institutions recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education and respective regulatory bodies.
– The applicant should not be benefiting from any other scholarship schemes, including those offered by state governments or fee waivers.
– The gross parental/family income should not exceed ₹4,50,000 per annum.
– For scholarship renewal each year, maintaining at least 50% marks in annual exams and a minimum attendance of 75% is mandatory.
Application Process:
– Applications are exclusively accepted online.
– Verification of student credentials, including caste and educational qualifications, is conducted via the DIGILOCKER facility of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
– Timelines for the opening and closing of the portal are determined by the National Scholarships Portal (NSP) at www.scholarships.gov.in.
– Guidelines for application, verification, selection, and disbursement of scholarships are following NSP regulations.
– Selection lists are generated and displayed on the NSP platform.
