Sainik Schools in India

Sainik Schools

The Ministry of Defence manages the Sainik Schools in India, which were established to address regional and class imbalances in the military officer cadre and to prepare students for entry into the National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy.

The Ministry of Defence collaborates with state governments to operate Sainik Schools, with the MoD providing funding and officers on deputation while the state governments offer land, infrastructure, and staffing.

Sainik Schools use the CBSE curriculum and focus on preparing students for NDA and INA while offering admissions at classes VI and IX with reservations for SC/ST, state domicile, and Armed Forces personnel’s children.
