Tamil Nadu Medical Services Recruitment Board (TN MRB)

The Government of Tamil Nadu established the Medical Services Recruitment Board (TN MRB) through, The Health and Family Welfare Department on 02.01.2012, with the primary aim of quickly filling various positions within the Health and Family Welfare Department through direct recruitment, considering the significance and essential nature of these roles.

Selection process:

The selection process of MRB is similar to TRB :
i) The Tamil language Eligibility Test (SSLC Standard), which will be a one-hour exam, is as follows:
-Total marks: 50 marks
-Minimum marks: 40% of the total marks.
ii)Computer-Based Examination (CBT) or Written Examination in Optical Mark Reader (OMR),
which is a 2-hour, single-paper, objective-type exam,
The minimum qualifying marks are as follows:
-SC/SC(A)/ST candidates: 30 marks
-and for Other candidates: 35 marks.

Ophthalmic Assistant– Open Quota/General: 32 years.
– Differently Abled Person: 42 years
– Completed a two-year Ophthalmic Assistant course from a recognized institution.
 – Received a two-year Optometry diploma from a government medical college or an equivalent recognized institution.
 -Successfully finished a three-month Para Medical Ophthalmic Assistant course at the Regional Institute.
Laboratory Technician Grade-III– Open Quota/General: 32 years.
– Differently Abled Person: 42 years
-Successful completion of the plus-two examination.
-Possession of a one-year Medical Laboratory Technology Course certificate from a Director of Medical Education-recognized institution.
-Must have a good physique, good vision, and the ability to perform outdoor work.
Occupational Therapist– Open Quota/General: 32 years.
– Differently Abled Person: 42 years
-Completion of the Higher Secondary Course.
-Possession of a three-year Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy with a 6-month internship (until 1997).
-Alternatively, a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy with a 6-month internship from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission.
Therapeutic Assistant (Male)– Open Quota/General: 32 years.
– Differently Abled Person: 42 years
Eligibility requires a 2 ½ years Diploma in Nursing Therapy awarded by the relevant authorities in Tamil Nadu’s Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy.
Therapeutic Assistant (Female)– Open Quota/General: 32 years.
– Differently Abled Person: 42 years
To be eligible, candidates must possess a 2 ½ year Diploma in Nursing Therapy awarded by the authorities in Tamil Nadu’s Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy.
Health Inspector Grade-II– Open Quota/General: 32 years.
– Differently Abled Person: 42 years
-Completion of plus-two with Biology or Botany and Zoology.
-Passed Tamil Language at S.S.L.C Level.
-Possession of a Two-year Multipurpose Health Worker (Male) course/Health Inspector/Sanitary Inspector Course Certificate issued by the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
-Candidates who completed the one-year Multipurpose Health Worker (Male) training course before the introduction of the two-year course are also eligible.
Technician Grade-I– Open Quota/General: 32 years.
– Differently Abled Person: 42 years
As per the regulations and criteria set by the Director of Drug Control in Chennai, only candidates with a Diploma in Pharmacy are qualified to apply for this post.
ECG Technician– Open Quota/General: 32 years.
– Differently Abled Person: 42 years
-Successful completion of PUC under old regulations, or
       i) Passing the Plus 2 course with eligibility for university-level studies.
-Completion of a one-year certificate course in Electro Cardiogram or Treadmill Technician conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
The scale of pay :

The pay scale under the TN MRB Posts:

  • Theater Assistant-Rs.16600-Rs.52400/-
  • Ophthalmic Assistant-Rs.35,400 –Rs.1,12,400/-
  • Laboratory Technician Grade-III-A fixed salary of Rs. 13,000/-
  • Occupational Therapist – Rs. 35,400 – Rs.1,12,400/-
  • Therapeutic Assistant (Male)&(Female) – Rs. 18000-Rs.56900/-
  • Health Inspector Grade-II: Rs. 19,500- Rs.62,000/-
  • Technician Grade-I : Rs:35,400 –Rs.1,12,400/-
  • ECG Technician : Rs: 19,500- Rs.62,000/-
Application fees:

The application fee is Rs. 300 for SC/SCA/ST/DAP(PH)/DW candidates, and
it is Rs. 600 for all other applicants.

Documents need to be submitted for TN MRB
  • A scanned colour photograph of the candidate,
  • Scanned signature of the candidate,
  • Educational certificates and mark sheets for 10th, 12th, graduation, or other relevant qualifications,
  • Government-issued identification documents (e.g., Aadhar card, voter’s ID, driver’s license),
  • Caste or community reservation certificate (if applicable),
  • Residency certificate (if applicable) Disability certificate (if applicable) for Persons with Disabilities.
