TNPSC District Education Officer Examination

The TNPSC authorities conduct District Education Officer exams to choose candidates for the role of District Education Officer.

I. Steps/Stages in the Selection Process:

Authorities conduct the District Education Officer exams in three phases.

  • Preliminary exam: in which the candidate has to score (90/300) marks for the Reserved category and (120/300) marks for the General category.
    • Note: the candidate who will clear the prelims exams is only called for the Mains exam.
  • Mains exam: The Mains exam is of 4 papers in which the candidate has to score
    • In Paper I to get qualified (40/100) marks.
    • Note: if the candidates do not have the qualifying marks in paper I, Paper2,3&4 will not be evaluated. 
  • In Papers 2, 3, 4& Interviews the candidates have to score a minimum of (306/1020) for the reserved category and (408/1020) marks for the General category.
    • Note: the exam Paper 2, and 3rd&4th papers are for 300 marks and the interview is for 120 marks, the marks scored in prelims and Paper I will not be taken into account for ranking and merit.

Application Fees:
  • One-time Registration Fee: Rs.150/- (valid for 5 years)
  • Prelims exam fee: Rs.100/-
  • Mains exam fee: Rs.200/-

Important Documents needed for the application:

Certificates to be submitted are the following:
  • SSLC/HSC Certificate (Date of Birth Verification),
  • Priority Selection for Tamil Medium (PSTM) Certificate,
  • Disability Certificate,
  • No Objection Certificate,
  • Additional Supporting Documents for Reservation,
  • Educational Certificates (as specified in the application),
  • Community Certificate,
  • Typewriting/Shorthand Certificates.
 Id and Photographs needed:
  • You should upload a photo with your signature on it, and it should be in jpg format with dimensions of (165×123) pixels and a file size below 50 kb.
  • Upload a scanned copy of signatures with dimensions of (80×125) pixels, and the file size should be below 20 kb in jpg
  • Candidates are required to submit Identification Documents such as Aadhar, driver’s license, PAN card, passport, or voter in the application and they must also carry the hard copy of the ID which is uploaded, along with their hall ticket on the day of the Exam.
Documents needed for verification after selection:
  • Educational Qualification Certificates: Your SSLC (10th) certificate, your higher secondary (12th) certificate, and your graduation certificate for Age proof.
  • Community Certificate: To specify your community as (SC, ST, OBC, & others).
  • Nativity Certificate (if necessary): If you claim to be a Tamil Nadu resident, submit a nativity certificate.
  • Differently Abled Certificate (For physically handicapped candidates): If you have a disability, include a certificate to ensure it.
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC): If you have a current job, get permission from your Manager.
  • Photo ID Proof: Show a valid photo ID like an Aadhar card, voter ID, passport, or driver’s license.
  • Passport-size Photographs: Attach recent photos (colour) as instructed.
  • Payment Receipt: As proof of application fee payment.
  • Self-Declaration Form: Complete a form saying you don’t have any criminal history and disciplinary actions,
  • The official notice includes mentions of other supporting documents, such as experience certificates if needed.
  • Candidates must submit two copies of the conduct certificate.
