Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the CMRF, you must:

- Should have completed a Master’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized university with at least:
- 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA) for the general category.
- 55% marks for SC/ST, differently-abled candidates, and women.

Selection Process
1. Eligibility Test (CMRF Test)
Conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), Tamil Nadu, the test evaluates subject knowledge and research aptitude.
2. Interview
Shortlisted candidates from the eligibility test are invited for an interview, where their academic background, research potential, and proposed research area are assessed.
A State Selection Committee, comprising experts and university representatives, finalizes the list of selected scholars.

- In 2022–23: 120 scholarships (60 in Science, 60 in Arts & Humanities).
- In 2024–25: 180 fellowships divided as follows: (60 in Science, 60 in Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, 20 in Engineering, 40 in Agriculture, Education, Oceanography, Veterinary, etc.)
