The fellowship grants an amount of ₹36,200/- per annum for the entire duration of the PG course, aiming to alleviate the financial burden associated with the education of girls, particularly those who are the only female child in their families.

- Supporting the postgraduate education of single female children, exclusively in postgraduate courses.
- Acknowledging and encouraging adherence to small family norms.

- The Scholarship For Single Child provides ₹36,200 per annum for two years, equivalent to the duration of a PG course.
- Annually, the University Grants Commission will award 3,000 fresh scholarships.
- The University Grants Commission will disburse the scholarship amount annually through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Eligibility for Single Child Scholarship:
1. Applicants must hold Indian citizenship.
2. Eligible candidates should be the sole female child in their families.
3. Additionally, girls without any brothers or those who are twin or fraternal daughters are also eligible to apply.
4. The maximum age limit for applicants is 30 years at the commencement of their first year of PG studies.
5. Candidates must have secured admission to regular, full-time Master’s Degree programs offered by designated universities or post-graduate colleges.
6. Furthermore, applicants must enroll in non-professional courses and attend regular classes at recognized institutions.
7. It’s essential that applicants are not pursuing their education through distance learning methods.
Application Process For the Scholarship:
- Eligible candidates are to apply online via the National Scholarship Portal once the application process commences, as announced through notification on the UGC website.
- The candidate’s host institution is responsible for verifying the online application.
- Institutions admitting students into their first year of PG courses are encouraged to waive tuition fees for female students pursuing PG degree programs at Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
