National Entrance Screening Test (NEST)

NEST (The National Entrance Screening Test) is a joint effort by the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, and the University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. It’s designed for students who are either in Class 12 or have recently graduated. The purpose of this test is to identify and support talented students who wish to pursue their studies at esteemed institutes. Those who pass the test will have the opportunity to join a 5-year integrated M.Sc. program at either NISER Bhubaneswar or UM-DAE CEBS, Mumbai, along with additional benefits.

Eligibility for NEST:

To be eligible, applicants need to fulfill the following requirements:
– They should have been born on or after August 1, 2002.

– They must have completed their Class 12 board exams or equivalent in the science stream either in 2020 or 2021 or have appeared for them in 2022, from any recognized Higher Secondary Education Board in India.

– Applicants should have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or its equivalent in the Class 12 board examination.

– They need to secure a position in the NEST merit list.

Note:

– SC/ST/Divyangjan candidates have a relaxed age limit of five years and a reduced aggregate marks requirement to 55%.
